1. Regina v. J.C. [Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, Calgary – January 2010]

Client charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, obstruction of a peace officer and breach of recognizance. Client walking down Calgary street when apprehended by the police relative to a neighborhood “B&E”. Search of client revealed approximately one ounce of cocaine and a small quantity of marijuana. Through pre-trial negotiation with the Crown the matter was ultimately resolved by way of a guilty plea to simple possession of marijuana and obstruction; a small fine was imposed. The charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking was completely withdrawn.
